This Privacy Policy applies to all Garmin Connect IQ applications published by M. Mendelson — data fields and watch faces alike, including any apps released in the future (the “Apps”). It explains what usage information the Apps collect, why, and the choices you have.
The Apps are installed from the Garmin Connect IQ Store and run on your Garmin device. Your use of the Garmin platform is also governed by Garmin’s own Privacy Policy, which is separate from this one.
1. Who is responsible
These Apps are developed and maintained by an independent developer, M. Mendelson (the “Developer”, “I”, “me”). For any privacy question or request, contact: mateusmendelson@hotmail.com.
2. Information the Apps collect
To understand how the Apps are used across different devices and to improve them, the Apps send a small usage record when they run. This record can include:
| Data | Source | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Year of birth (i.e. approximate age) | Your Garmin user profile | Understand the audience and improve the Apps |
| Gender | Your Garmin user profile | Understand the audience and improve the Apps |
| Device model | Device settings | Diagnose device-specific issues, prioritise support |
| A device identifier (a per-installation unique identifier provided by Garmin) | Device settings | Count distinct devices and de-duplicate usage records |
| System language | Device settings | Understand which languages to support |
| Time zone offset & time of use | Device clock | Usage timing and statistics |
| Current sport / activity profile (e.g. running, cycling) | Garmin activity profile | Understand how the Apps are used |
| Whether an activity is being recorded, and the App version | App state | Debugging and version statistics |
The year of birth and gender are read from the profile you configured in Garmin Connect. If you have not set them, they are not available to the App.
3. Live tracking (Tracker Data Field)
The Tracker Data Field includes an optional live-tracking feature. When you configure it with a Track ID and record an activity, the data field transmits live records about that activity from your watch — the values the feature exists to share, such as elapsed time, pace and distance and, where provided by the feature, your position — to a backend operated by the Developer, so the tracking page at apps.mmendelson.com/tracker can display them to whoever enters that Track ID.
This sharing is opt-in and user-initiated: nothing is transmitted unless you actively use the data field with a Track ID, and starting it is how you consent to the transfer. Anyone who knows your Track ID can view the shared records, so treat it like a private link and give it only to people you trust. These records are kept only as long as needed to provide the feature; you can stop transmission at any time by ending the activity or removing the data field, and you can request deletion of stored records via the address in the Contact section.
4. You cannot be personally identified
The Apps do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any account login, and the information above is not linked to your identity in Garmin Connect or any other account. The device identifier is a value provided by Garmin that only distinguishes one device from another so usage records can be counted and de-duplicated — it is not your name and is not used to work out who you are. Because of this, the information the Apps collect cannot, on its own, identify you as a specific, named person. The one exception is the optional live-tracking feature described in the next section: the records you actively choose to share there may include location data, and anyone with your Track ID can see them — that is the feature’s purpose.
5. How the information is used
- To understand which devices, languages and activity types the Apps are used with.
- To fix bugs, prioritise improvements, and produce aggregate usage statistics.
I do not sell your personal information, and I do not use it for advertising or to build advertising profiles.
6. Data retention & security
Usage information is transmitted over encrypted (HTTPS) connections and retained only as long as needed to operate the Apps and produce statistics, after which it is deleted or kept in aggregated form. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but I take reasonable measures to protect the limited information collected.
7. Children’s privacy
The Apps are general-purpose fitness tools and are not directed to children. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age required by local law. If you believe a child has provided such information, contact me and I will delete it.
8. Your rights & choices
- The age and gender data come from your Garmin profile; you can edit or clear those fields in Garmin Connect at any time.
- You can uninstall an App at any time to stop it from running and sending any usage information; live tracking transmits only while you actively use the Tracker Data Field with a Track ID.
- Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask — free of charge — what information is associated with your device, and to access, correct, or request deletion of it. On request I will erase everything associated with your device or Track ID and halt any further processing. Email me at the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the latest version. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
